We are very pleased to announce that with immediate effect Alan Jones has been appointed a Non Executive Director of Public-i Group Ltd. Alan has recently stood down as Chief Executive of Somerset County Council and has previously been the Chief Executive at both Test Valley Borough Council and Watford City Council. He led Somerset in their transformation programme which took them from a fair rating to a top grading of 4 stars. He has held a number of senior roles within Local Authorities over the last 34 years. In addition Alan has sat on the SOLACE National Executive (chairing their International Committee) and hence is extremely well known and well respected in our market. As well as joining the Public-i Board, Alan will be working with Local Authorities through other organisations which will be focussed on assisting them through their "Total Place" agendas (a new government initiative that looks at how a ‘whole area’ approach to public services can lead to better services at less cost), and through a company called Civic Cloud Ltd which will be working with local government to enable them to find efficiencies through cloud computing. Alan's role with Public-i will be very much to assist us as we develop and implement a wider strategy that will move us from a smaller niche market supplier into a more strategic partner for Citizen Engagement for Local Authorities within the EU.
